True Love

D is home for a while, trying to find a job. While he is gone, we get to take care of Roma. When she misses him too much, she finds the nearest pair of stinky shoes and curls up for a nap, preferably with her head ON the shoes. THAT is love. I've smelled those noxious things!

Falls-ing in slow motion

R and I went up to my favorite off-the-side-of-the-road set of waterfalls today, and I was able to get some of the spring melt. I just love using a slow shutter speed to turn the water into silk and impressionistic paintings.

Frost and Ice Patterns

Our recent cold weather has brought out Mother Nature's artistic side...

Frost on the windshield looks like fern or pine fronds

Amazing--the pond freezes with a combination of straight linear lines and these incredibly organic shapes. Just look at the base of these "ferns".

And this!! A butterfly on ice! How cool is this?!

A Snowy March

Well, who would've guessed that March would bring us this much snow, instead of rain? Wierd day today--it warms up just enough for the snow to slide off the branches, then starts snowing heavily again. On and off, with big huge flakes, almost chunks.

Ems and the Grands

I finally got around to editing some of the rest of the photos from Lo and Em's visit. Sure do appreciate Lo taking the camera for some pictures of me and my favorite Miss Em.

And we can't forget Soapy, Em's most favoritest stuffed animal. Yeah, I know...Soapy??? Go figure.

And one of Papa and Em. They both have the same rather shell-shocked expression on their faces. It is so nice to have R up and around and able to participate and enjoy family!!

Winter's last gasp...I think

Every time it snows recently I think it must be the last snow of the season, but Mother Nature keeps pulling a surprise or two out of her bag of tricks. It snowed yesterday--about 6", and was cold enough last night for the slush from the afternoon warm-up to freeze. Today we have BLUE SKY, so everything is gorgeous.

A little bit of ice, with a waterdrop on the end, plus some sunflare, and refracted pines...
The view out our window this morning was spectacular. Nothing like a blue sky to make the snow-encrusted trees and mountains look magical.
And this...THIS is the pestiferous robin, who for the 3rd (YES THIRD) year in a row is back, throwing himself against our front window and fighting with the robin reflected in the kickplate on our front door. The neighbor's cat is falling down on its job; it is time to break out the air rifle. I haven't found any other way to get rid of this pest, and our porch is a MESS. But, doesn't he look chilled? Too bad he didn't freeze last night. Good riddance!
